'SAD befooling people with hollow claims'

Taking a dig on the claims of development and starting new projects in Punjab, senior Congress leader Sunil Jakhar on Friday said that SAD had been trying to befool the people on the hollow claims of starting new projects.

Presenting the advertisements published in a section of media on Friday, Jakhar said that Punjab Government had published to start the same project in Barnala, that was earlier also started on February 28, 2014.

Training guns on Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, Jakhar said that Punjab Government had announced to increase Old Age pension from Rs250 to Rs500. The increase in pension was to be implemented from January 1, 2016, but instead of the increase, the elderly people in the State are awaiting their pending pensions for last many months.

He said that the Government has made bogus claims of its Atta-Dal scheme as for last two year, people have not been given Dal under the scheme. He said that the Finance minister Perminder Singh Dhindsa had announced on January 2 that he had arranged 300 crores for distributing Dal under the scheme.

Jakhar said that a claim of releasing 100 crore to the Food and Supplies department was also made by Dhindsa, but 20 days have gone, but no where in the state the poor have been given dal under the scheme.

Challenging Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal for taking the Khadoor Sahib elections as a referendum on the religious sentiments, Jakhar said that if the ruling SAD was confident that it had been able to protect the religious sentiments of the people, then they should announce to take the Khadoor Sahib elections as a referendum of people. He claimed that if SAD takes it as a referendum they would definitely be shown the reality by the people.

He said now SAD was trying to divert people’s attention from the wounds that it had inflicted on the religious sentiments of the people, by making false claims of development. But such claims are not going to serve the purpose.
