Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Thursday said that AAP had sacked Sukhpal Khaira from the post of leader of opposition after getting whiff of his game plan to join the Congress party through his relative Justice (retd) Ranjit Singh.
“Though the sacking of Khaira is an internal party matter of AAP, it is also a fact that the party took this decision after it realized that Khaira is trying to break the legislative wing and lure a major chunk of party
MlAs with him to the Congress party,” said SAD spokesman Maheshinder Singh Grewal.
BJP’s former state president and former minister Manoranjan Kalia attacked the AAP saying that selection and not the election is the cardinal principal upon which the AAP runs.
“In a democracy, it is the elected representatives who themselves elect their leader, but in AAP, the leader of Opposition stands selected by the high command,” he said adding that this shows that there was no internal democracy in AAP.
