SAD, AAP targeted Capt out of fear: Manish Tewari

Backing Capt Amarinder Singh, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Manish Tewari on Monday said that in targeting the Punjab Congress chief, both the Akali Dal and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have only betrayed their own fears after having read the writing on the wall.

“In targeting Capt Amarinder Singh alone during their political conferences at Fatehgarh Sahib on Sunday, the SAD and AAP had only betrayed their fears after having read the writing on the wall and realised that people of Punjab have already made up their mind on who is going to be their next chief minister,” said Tewari.

Tewari, in a statement, said that the Akalis as well as AAP leaders, instead of listing out any positive agenda for the state or any achievements, had only criticised Capt Amarinder. He said that their fears were understandable as Capt Amarinder commanded the confidence of the masses across the state.

“He has a proven record and has been tried and tested,” Tewari said, while pointing out that the people of Punjab were eagerly awaiting his return as the chief minister for good governance.

Capt Amarinder’s popularity has been proved beyond doubt, whether by defeating Arun Jaitley from Amritsar or the mobilisation of about five lakh people in Bathinda for the function where he took charge as the Punjab Congress chief, the former ludhiana MP said.
