Sacrilege incidents started in Punjab only after advent of AAP in Punjab: Sukhbir

Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday said incidents of sacrilege started in Punjab only after the entry of the AAP in the State and this was because AAP had entered into an unholy alliance with radical elements.

Addressing gatherings at Sri Hargobindpur  and Kahnuwan in favour of Manjit Singh Manna and Sewa Singh Sekhwan, the SAD president said as AAP rose as a party in Punjab so did the number of sacrilege incidents. “This was because AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal assured radical elements that he would hand over control of Gurdwaras to them. This assurance has vitiated the atmosphere in Punjab and is threatening to take the State back to the earlier dark days”.

Urging people to recognise the danger, Badal said Kejriwal was ready to destroy peace and communal harmony in Punjab in his greed to become chief minister of the State.

On Congress, Badal said the party was on verge of extinction. “See for yourselves. Wherever Congress loses three times it is unable to come back to power again. This will happen in Punjab again as intense factionalism and revolts have finished the Congress as a political force in Punjab”, he added.

Asserting that only a Punjabi party could take the State ahead, Sukhbir said “please don’t let this opportunity go out of your hands. We are poised for the next phase of development in Punjab after the State has been made power surplus and has acquired much needed road and air infrastructure”.
