With a view to curb female foeticide, Haryana’s Kaithal Administration has announced to award Rs40,000 to the person who informs about ultrasound centres indulged in this evil practice.

While reviewing the implementation of ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ programme in the district, Deputy Commissioner K Makrand Pandurang said that the person informing about prenatal sex determination and female foeticide would get Rs20,000 from Health Department and additional Rs20,000 would be given by the District Administration.

Also, name of the informer would be kept secret, he added. During the meeting, the DC directed the senior officers to keep a vigil on their adopted villages so as to maintain the balance in sex ratio of the district. He also directed the officers to pay special attention to villages with low sex ratio and make surprise visits in primary health centres and community health centres located in their concerned sub divisions and check the record maintained by ANMs.

Pandurang further directed the officers to organise a district level programme on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8 under which women with outstanding performances and special achievements in various fields would be honoured.
