Rs2,000 crore plan on anvil to strengthen power distribution in Haryana

A Rs2,000 crore plan has been drawn up for execution within two years to strengthen power distribution system in Haryana with three major targets including evacuation of already available additional power to increase hours of supply, to give reliable and qualitative supply by removing all system constraints and to reduce aggregate technical and commercial loss considerably.

Chairman and Managing Director, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, Devender Singh in a meeting of senior officers of the utilities held at Gurgaon said that the power distribution utilities intend to increase power supply three hours in next three months.

The availability of power has already been arranged. The need is to strengthen the distribution system and reduction of AT&C losses in villages. In villages, wherever AT&C losses are less than 25 per cent on the feeder, all houses have meters and existing meters are relocated out of houses power supply will be given on urban pattern.

The CMD said that the new system of power distribution is being created on the basis of first come first serve. While laying the system, camps are organised in the villages to give on the spot connections so as to regularize the Kundi (unauthorized) connections reducing the gap between number of houses and number of connections.
