As a report published by the Wall Street Journal focussed on Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and his journey from a lesser known individual to becoming a real estate tycoon, Haryana’s senior IAS officer and whistle blower Ashok Khemka feels vindicated. The report published in journal elaborated that Vadra had real estate wealth worth Rs252 crore in 2012 and had sold a property worth Rs72 crore mounting his total property wealth to Rs324 crore in the same year.
The report has been calculated based on a review of company filings, land records and interviews with property experts. This report also includes the details related to out come of 1991 batch IAS officer Ashok Khemka’s action, when he was Director General of land Consolidation and land Records-cum-Inspector General of Registration and had dared to cancel the mutation of 3.5 acre land in Gurgaon’s Shikohpur village in the month of October 2012.
The land was sold by Vadra’s Sky light Hospitality to DlF. After the cancellation of mutation, Haryana Government immediately transferred him to Haryana Seeds Development Corporation limited department as punishment.Khemka had to pay a lot for his this action. Khemka was not only transferred in Seeds department as Managing Director but again transferred within a short span of time to Archives and Archaeology department as secretary, a post which was considered below his seniority.
In between, Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s Government not only put wrong remarks in his Annual Confidential Report (ACR) but also charge-sheeted him on four occasions — failing his responsibilities at the Haryana Seed Development Corporation and after finding corruption there, recommending for CBI enquiry of the seed scam there and the second related to Vadra-DlF land deal. Meanwhile, non-bailable warrants were also issued to him.
He had also received fresh death threats. A complaint had been lodged with the Panchkula police by HSDC chief manager KR Sharma in 2013.Khemka had also received more than ten memos from the State Government and whenever, he tried to contact State Government through written communication, the Government always tried to abstain from it and didn’t respond most of the time. When The pioneer asked Khemka about his reaction on this latest report published in Wall Street Journal, he said “What can I say on it, everyone is aware of my suffering, however I haven’t gone through the report as yet”.
