Review CM's I-T returns: Jr Dhumal

After leveling serious allegations of financial irregularities on Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal’s younger son Arun Dhumal on Wednesday questioned the assessment orders passed by Income Tax Department on revised I-T returns filed by Virbhadra.

“Income Tax Department has cleared the revised income tax return filed by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh in which he had cited that an MoU was signed on June 15, 2008 for managing his orchards while income from Srikhand orchard was not included in the originals,” alleged Arun Dhumal. He said that there is a provision for review of assessment orders passed by Income Tax officials and we request the Department to review the assessment orders, as for the same orchard, two MoU’s were signed on different dates.

The other MoU was done on June 17, 2008 which nullifies the June 15, 2008 MoU for managing the orchards by one Anand Chouhan. As per the documents, the revised IT returns filed by the Chief Minister suggests that his agricultural income was Rs 6.57 crore while his original documents filed suggested that his agricultural income for year 2009-10 was Rs 7.34 lakh, for 2010-11 it was Rs 15 lakhs and for 2011-12, it was Rs 25 lakhs.

“One thing is not clear that when Chief Minister was Union Steel Minister, his orchards gave exponential income and when he was not Union Steel Minister, his income again returns to normalcy,” said Dhumal junior. He also questioned the bills produced by CM in reference to his revised income tax return.

“The bills cited by Virbhadra Singh is of the company Universal Apple Associate Pvt. ltd. which was incorporated on May 13, 2013, then how come that company can purchase apples in 2008-09 from the orchards of Chief Minister,” added Arun Dhumal while producing the certificate of incorporation of the company.

Arun Dhumal who was recently booked by state Vigilance Bureau for forging document to purchase a piece of land alongwith his elder brother Anurag Thakur also questioned the overlooking of lIC premiums worth crores paid for the insurance policies of Chief Minister and his family members by a third person.

“Either the affidavits filed by Virbhadra are wrong or facts have been concealed. The CM should own the responsibility of filing wrong affidavit and resign. Election Commission of India should cancel the membership of Chief Minister, as well as his wife MP Pratibha Singh, who also concealed information in the affidavit,” added junior Dhumal.
