Punjab Government has decided to soon appoint a retired Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court as the chairman of Vimukat Jaati (denotified tribes) Commission to ascertain various issues related to them.

The direction was given by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to the office of Punjab Advocate General during a meeting with a deputation of Punjab Pardesh Vimukat Jaati Sangathan led by its chief — Dr Tarsem Singh Mahla, held late on Saturday evening at Chief Minister’s official residence.

On this occasion, Badal assured the deputation that “State Government would consider all their legitimate demands sympathetically,” as disclosed by a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s office.

He also directed the SC/OBC Welfare department to implement the decisions, which had already been taken during earlier meetings with the Sangathan pertaining to the reservation in the Government jobs, allotment of five marla plots and various benefits under other welfare schemes.

Reiterating the firm commitment of SAD-BJP Government for the welfare of the oppressed sections of the society, the Chief Minister asked the organisation to work in unison with the policies and programs of the State Government for benefiting their community in particular and the State in general.

Badal said it was only the SAD-BJP Government that had constituted Vimukat Jaatiyaan Bhalai Board for the first time in the State to ensure the over all development of the poor and backward communities.

On the occasion, Vimukat Jaati Sangathan’s leaders assured to work hard with full dedication and devotion to meet the high expectations of the Chief Minister for the overall development of the community.
