Research institute to study River Saraswati to come up in Haryana

A research institute and a museum would be established by the Centre in Haryana to carry out studies about the mythical river Saraswati.A decision in this regard was taken when Union Culture and Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma met Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar at Yamunanagar district in Haryana on Sunday.

The institute would be established as a part of the ‘Krishna Circuit’ for which `20 crore would be allocated through the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spirituality Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) scheme of the Union Tourism Ministry at Mugalwali village of Yamunanagar district.After reviewing the Saraswati river revival project at village Muglawali of Yamunanagar, the Union Minister Mahesh Sharma said that the Central Government has announced to include Kurukshetra in Krishna circuit along with Adibadri. The beautification of area would be done with the construction of roads and airports.

Haryana CM, Manohar lal said that besides Kurukshetra, Adibadri falling in Yamunanagar district has been included in the Krishna circuit.He said that in next two-three years, with the support of Central Government, this district would become world popular for its religious, cultural, spiritual importance in tourism sector.He said that the entire world is curious to know about the history of Saraswati River. Although today, all cities and villages are settled around roads but in ancient times all civilizations used to settle around the river banks.

The sacred scriptures, culture and life philosophies of this nation have been created on the banks of Saraswati River. Though Saraswati River has disappeared from the surface but this River is still flowing today beneath the surface.  Even today the glimpse of the flow of this River could be seen in the satellite images, said the CM.

 He said that Saraswati River originates from Adibadri and flows to Rajasthan to Gujarat and finally flown in into Indus River. Saraswati Heritage Board has been constituted and the digging work of the river has already been initiated. He directed the district Commissioner to increase the pace of digging work of the River.The CMannounced to build dam on Som River besides a bridge. He said that this district of Haryana would be developed on religious, cultural and spiritual areas by making use of all resources.

He said that Adibadri touches HP and to strengthen the link between two, a project to build bridge on Som River have been approved besides approval to project of 21ft broad double road from Bilaspur to Adibadri. With implementation of both these projects, more tourists are expected from HP, he added.
