Chandigarh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday urged Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Shivraj Patil to completely exempt properties of all former and presently serving Defence personnel living in Chandigarh from the purview of House Tax.
Satya Pal Jain, former city MP and BJP national in-charge of the legal and legislative Cell in a letter written to Patil, said few days back an 11-member delegation of retired army officers had met him at his residence, gave him their memorandum and requested him to give his support for getting exemption from House Tax for the properties of former and presently serving defence personnel living in Chandigarh. Jain sent a copy of this memorandum to Patil with his letter. Jain said all wings of the Army have played a very big role in maintaining the unity, integrity and security of the country.
