Rao upset as BJP denies ticket to his daughter

Distressed over non-allotment of the BJP ticket to his politically active daughter Aarti Rao for the State Assembly polls, Union Minister of State for Defence, Rao Inderjit, said he would soon raise the issue before the party high command to register his resentment in this regard.

Interacting with mediapersons in Rewari, Inderjit said his supporters were upset following the party’s decision of not nominating Aarti as its nominee because they were quite hopeful about her candidature.“I will soon convene a meeting of my aggrieved supporters to persuade them to ensure the party’s victory in the assembly polls. Some other vital decisions will also be taken at the meeting with the consultation of supporters,” he added.

Inderjit was lobbying hard to get the party ticket for Aarti Rao from Rewari from where the party has fielded its old face Randhir Singh Kaprivaas.

In reply to a question about the party’s policy of not giving the tickets to kith and kin of the senior leaders to discourage dynastic politics, the Minister said how can it possible when the party nominated Sushma Swaraj’s sister from Safidon and Ram Bilas Sharma’s close relative from Ballabhgarh segments as its candidates.

On being asked whether he would canvass against his younger brother and incumbent Kosli MlA Rao Yadavendra Singh, the Minister said his aim was to root out the Congress from Ahirwal region, hence would carry out canvassing in favour of the party nominee in Kosli and other segments of this region.

“I will also try to be present along with the BJP nominees in Bawal, Kosli, Ateli, Narnaul and Pataudi at the time of filing their nomination papers so as to boost their election campaign,” said Inderjit, adding that the party high command would take a final call about the CM after the Assembly polls.

In reply to another question, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would address eight rallies in various parts of the State during the election campaign. The places would be decided soon, he added.
