Haryana Congress and Chandigarh Congress unit on Sunday condemned the statement of Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev regarding Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and ‘Dalits’.
Ashok Tanwar, Haryana Congress president during his poll campaign in Amritsar and Gurdaspur on Sunday said that people have known this person who used public for his political motive through yoga training. Now, Ramdev has cleared the intentions of BJP towards Dalits. There should be a strict action taken against such person. Also, public will teach a lesson in the elections to those who have such intentions for dalits, he added. Protesting against Ramdev, the State Congress unit also burnt an effigy of Ramdev at Subhash Chowk in Sirsa and demanded his immediate arrest. Meanwhile, Chandigarh Youth Congress workers also burnt an effigy of Ramdev at Sector 28 here for his objectionable statement against AICC
vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Dalit community. The party city unit said that he has given a wrong statement and has hurt the sentiments of dalits. Ramdev had on Friday triggered a controversy claiming that “Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi goes to Dalits’ homes for honeymoon and picnic.”
