Self-styled godman Ram Pal wants to be shifted to another jail. lodged in Hissar Jail-I for the last eight months, Ram Pal has alleged that he was being tortured in jail and the jail authorities are asking him to pay them Rs 50 lac to be safe and secure.
In a petition filed in Punjab and Haryana High Court, Ram Pal has accused Haryana police of subjecting him to inhuman treatment. The jail authorities do not let him meet people who come to visit him. He has claimed that he is a heart patient with asthmatic problem so he should be shifted from Central Jail-I to Central Jail-II in Hissar.
Hearing his plea, Punjab and Haryana High Court issued notice to Haryana Director-General of Police (Jails) for September 28. The court has asked Hissar Jail Superintendent to file reply on allegations. Ram Pal has been in jail since November 2014, when he was arrested by Haryana Police from his Ashram in Barwala after a violent resistance by his supporters.
