Keeping in view the possibility of increase in water level of Ghaggar and other rivers and channels due to heavy rainfall in the hills, Panchkula District Administration has instructed officers of different Departments to prevent people from entering these rivers originating in the mountains.
Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula, Garima Mittal issued directions in this regard on Wednesday.
Mittal has asked the officers of Irrigation and Police Departments, apart from Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars concerned to maintain vigil and ensure that people, particularly children, do no enter these water bodies.
She said that a ban on entering these water bodies during monsoon had already been imposed under Section 144. However, people had still been found violating this ban, she added.
