Rahul, Capt, Bajwa disturbing Punjab's peace, accuses BJP

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday alleged that Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Punjab’s former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Partap Singh Bajwa have hatched a “conspiracy” to acquire power in the State and were supporting radicals to disturb peace.

BJP national secretary Tarun Chugh alleged that under this conspiracy, Congress MlA Ramanjit Singh Sikki and party’s Kisan Cell president Inderjit Singh Zira were sent to openly support the radicals during November 10 Sikh congregation at Chabba village, while Congress leaders Harminder Singh Gill and lalli Majithia too contributed by sending their supporters to make the radical event a success.

Chugh alleged that the only thing Congress, at present, has in mind is that how they can wrest power in the state and make a comeback. “It is sad to note that Congress has stooped so low to gain some political brownie points,” he said.

BJP national secretary said that the Congress owes an explanation to the people of the country and particularly of Punjab as to why it has “joined hands” with the elements who openly demand a separate and independent state of Khalistan by challenging the unity and integrity of the country.

Reminding Rahul of a letter written by Capt Amarinder to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, wherein he had alleged that PPCC chief Bajwa had relations with terrorists and smugglers, Chugh asked Congress vice-president why the party didn’t act against Bajwa on the basis of allegations levelled by a senior leader like Amarinder. “If the allegations were wrong, you should have shunted out Amarinder and if the allegations were true, you should have acted against Bajwa, but you did nothing,” Chugh said questioning the double standards of Rahul and the Congress party.

“It clearly shows how desperate Rahul Gandhi has become to re-acquire power even if it is by shaking hands with separatist forces,” he said.
