Rahul Gandhi on Friday charged that despite being in power for the last 15 years, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has left a big gap in development.
Addressing media after a 20-minute meeting of party executive body at the Congress Bhawan here, Gandhi highlighted on the bottlenecks in the State healthcare sector, children’s education and plights of farmers. “The State is witnessing growing unemployment, abysmal medical facilities and neglect of education during the 15-year-long BJD rule. Despite being in power for the last 15 years, Naveenji has left a gap in development,” Gandhi said.
He exhorted State party cadres to champion the causes of common man unitedly from the grassroots level.
later, he also met some chit fund victims and listened to their woes at the State Guest House. “There is a huge corruption issue. People are hurt by the chit fund scam. I also met people who have been affected by the scam,” said Gandhi.
He said the Congress would vigorously raise these burning issues to expose the BJD. “I am confident that party men will work together in a disciplined and united manner for strengthening the organisation,” said Gandhi. Both the PCC and the Congress legislature Party (ClP) are doing well and carrying people together, said Gandhi. The Congress leader also attended a workshop on social justice before leaving for New Delhi in the evening.
