It was just another rags-to-riches story, but with a twist. Manoj Kumar of Mandvi village in Sangrur district had not even thought that his life would witness a complete change when he decided to borrow Rs 200 to buy a lottery ticket under Punjab State Rakhi Bumper-2018.

As the luck would have it, Manoj now owns Rs 1.50 crore. A labourer by profession, Manoj became a crorepati overnight winning the first prize of Rakhi Bumper.

The draw of the bumper was announced on August 29 at Ludhiana. The first two prizes have gone to ticket no: A-207485 and B-660446.

Manoj Kumar could not believe his eyes as he matched his ticket number with the winning ticket number B-660446. He met the Director Lotteries TPS Phoolka on Wednesday and submitted his claim for the prize money. The Director assured him that the payment would be made at the earliest.

Feeling extremely happy, Manoj said that he could not have imagined winning such a big amount in the wildest of dreams, but this has been made possible by the Punjab State Rakhi Bumper.

Expressing faith in the fair and transparent manner in which the state government had conducted the draw, Manoj said that with the big prize money, he would be able to tide over the financial problems his family was facing.
