Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday asked the Punjab Congress president and Amritsar MP Capt Amarinder Singh to quit and apologise to the electorate of his constituency for ditching them midway to fulfill his ambition to become Chief Minister.
The party accused the former chief minister of exhibiting “extreme immoral, unethical and cheap level of politics”.
Party’s statement came as Capt Amarinder applied as a candidate for Patiala urban assembly seat — known as his bastion. “By doing so, Capt Amarinder has once again chosen to ditch the electorate of Amritsar lok Sabha, earlier he had ditched the Patiala electorate to become Member Parliament from Amritsar in 2014,” said party spokesperson Sukhpal Khaira.
“His frequent political somersaults are only adding to the growing belief that politics has become a source of personal growth and business like profession rather than the old tradition of selfless service,” said Khaira.
