Punjab would have been drug free if Capt Amarinder did not seek Majithia's protection from Sonia Gandhi: Kejriwal

Taking on his rivals in one-go, Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that Punjab would have been free from drugs and narcotics if the state Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh had not sought protection for Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Majithia from Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

“Instead of protecting Punjab from drugs and narcotics, Capt Amarinder preferred to save his own nephew Majithia from the dragnet of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which his own party is vociferously demanding,” said Kejriwal while addressing a series of rallies at three different places in Hoshairpur.

He said: “I have learnt that Captain went out of his way to protect Majithia from CBI probe by requesting Sonia Gandhi, who was UPA chairperson at that time, not to act against his nephew.”

Otherwise what prevented the Congress Government led by Dr Manmohan Singh at the Centre from arresting Majithia and saving Punjab from the spread of drugs and narcotics, he asked.

“The collusion among Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal-Capt Amarinder -Sukhbir Badal-Bikram Majithia became evident when the SAD-BJP Government, about a month back, withdraw all corruption cases against him to return the favour which Captain did to Akalis when UPA Government was in power,” said Kejriwal.

He added that Capt Amarinder was a corrupt Chief Minister and amassed huge sums of money which he stashed in his family’s Swiss Bank accounts in the name of his wife Praneet Kaur and son Raninder Singh.

“I have revealed the Swiss Bank account numbers of Praneet Kaur and Raninder Singh so many times in public rallies recently, but till date Capt Amarinder has not contradicted even once that I was telling a lie,” Kejriwal said adding that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi was indeed sincere in bringing black money, he would have immediately acted against Capt Amarinder and brought back the huge black money he (Captain) stashed in Swiss Bank accounts.

Kejriwal said that in fact, Prime Minister Modi has plundered hard earned money of the farmers and poor people, who are now being forced to stand in long queues and wait for endless hours to withdraw their own legitimate money.

“It is becoming apparently clear after more than one month of demonetisation that the decision was taken only to favour big business houses, who had run into bad debts worth lakhs and crores of rupees,” said Kejriwal adding that Modi has already waived off bad debts of big business houses worth `1.14 lakh crores and now intended to use the public money also to write-off `eight lakh crore bad debts of the corporate giants.
