Punjab warns against fraud in name of lotteries

Published on:

Punjab lottery Department on Thursday made it absolutely clear that the State Government, at present, is not running any online lottery and neither does it contact any lottery winner through e-mail.

The clarification came after the Department has noticed that some anti-social elements are committing fraud with the people in the name of the bumper lottery schemes of Punjab by sending “fraudulent” e-mails implying that they have won the first prize.

No such e-mail is sent by the Government and neither does it runs any such online lottery, said the Department’s spokesperson.

The spokesperson said that the lottery schemes of Punjab are being run in an absolutely transparent manner and the people are informed through media regarding the bumper lottery schemes issued at various intervals.

“Tickets pertaining to the New Year lohri Bumper-2018 would be issued very soon and the draw would be out on January 17, 2018,” said the spokesperson.

The spokesperson said that the special aspect of the Punjab Government run  lottery schemes is that the first prize is given to the common people from the tickets  sold which makes these schemes very popular among the people.
