Punjab Vidhan Sabha Session to begin on Oct 28

The long-awaited Punjab Vidhan Sabha Session would start from October 28.

The State Cabinet in its previous meeting approved the summoning of the session, and the official notification was issued on Monday. “The 14th Punjab Vidhan Sabha has been summoned by Punjab Government to meet for its sixth session on October 28, 2013, at 2 pm in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Hall, Vidhan Bhavan, Chandigarh.”

Before this, Punjab Government has summoned a one-day “emergency” session in May to discuss the issue of wealth tax “only”. Though the issue was resolved well before the session scheduled for May 3, the State Government went ahead with its decision, but ended in 15 minutes after paying tributes to Sarabjit and passing resolution declaring him as “martyr of the nation”, a day after his death in lahore.

Virtually skipping the Monsoon Session, the Vidhan Sabha would meet for the Winter Session for five days - from October 28 to November 1.

While the Day 1 has been fixed for obituary references, the next two days - October 29 and 30 - has been dedicated for legislative business, and non-official business would be carried out on October 31.
