Punjab Education Minister Om Prakash Soni on Friday said the State Government is consistently working in the direction of strengthening the education system in the State’s border areas and congenial results are coming out.
Soni said that during the tenure of previous SAD-BJP Government, the future of the children of the border areas was completely neglected and the number of teachers in the border areas was drastically reduced, due to which the results had been gone down speedily.
“After coming into power, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has set a goal to impart quality education to the students of all the areas of the State equally as well as to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure so that the students of every field could get the education and our younger generation will be able to survive in this competitive world,” said Soni. He said that the department has promoted 2,282 primary teachers to the master cadre, out of which mostly have been posted in border areas.
In these areas, 85 percent posts of Punjabi subject, 82 percent of Mathematics and 74 percent posts of Science Subject have been filled. The Government is working hard to provide 100 percent teachers in all the schools of the State, he said. Soni said that the process of setting up a separate cadre of teachers for border area is on anvil.
