Punjab Education Department is all set to show the door to long absentee teachers and employees of education department in the month of June, who have failed to join duties despite various reminders. “I have taken a serious view of menace of long absentee teachers, who are blocking the posts of Education Department, and creating hurdles in the smooth functioning of the department,” said State Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema.
He said that he has issued directions to all District Education Officers to submit list of long absentee teachers by May 31, 2015, and issued directions to the education department to dismiss long absentee teachers within the month of June after due process. He said that erring district education officers (DEOs), failing to submit list, would face the departmental action.
