To cope up with the shortage of teachers and maintain the standards of quality education in Government schools across the State, the Punjab Government has decided to set up Teachers Recruitment Board for the selection of teachers in Model, Adarsh and Rashtriya Madhamik Sikhsha Abhiyaan (RAMSA) schools.
Besides Teachers Recruitment Board, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal also gave nod to form Teachers Selection Recruitment Board during a meeting with the senior officers of the School Education Department on Wednesday. The Teachers Selection Recruitment Board would appoint the teachers in the existing schools besides upcoming models schools to be established in due course of time. The board would be headed by Principal Secretary of School Education whereas vice-chancelllors of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Punjabi University, Patiala Director General School Education and Punjab School Education Board chairperson would be its members and DPI schools would be its convener.
Underscoring the need for imparting quality education to the students, Badal pressed for selecting professional teachers with an impeccable commitment and dedication. “The sole criteria for teachers’ recruitment would be strictly based on the merit of the candidates. Board must complete the entire recruitment process of the Model, Adarsh and RAMSA schools by September this year. Until the recruitment process is not completed, alternative arrangements must be made for providing education to the students so that their studies must not suffer,” he added.
