Taking stock of the drugs available with the department and hospitals across the State is now just a click away. For, the Punjab Health and Family Welfare Department has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the C-DAC, Noida, on Tuesday for setting up of Online Inventory Management Systems.
Besides helping in online tracking of drug inventory at various levels, the move is also aimed at bringing transparency in the procurement and distribution of drugs at various warehouses and Government health facilities across the State. In addition, the department has also decided to set up scientifically-designed warehouses for storage and distribution of medicines.
“Three regional warehouses are being constructed at Amritsar, Bathinda and Kharar as per the designs of warehouses of Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation (TNMSC). Construction of these three regional warehouses is expected to be completed by October 31, this year,” said Punjab health and Family Welfare Minister Madan Mohan Mittal.
“Online inventory management system will bring more transparency in the procurement and distribution of drugs and consumables and establish online link between State headquarter, regional warehouses and the hospitals,” he added.
