The Punjab Government on Saturday said it has proposed to set up four multi-skill development centres which will equip the youth of the State with the latest technical know-how. The centres will be established at ludhiana, Bathinda, Hoshiarpur and Amritsar, an official spokesperson said. He said these centres will operate as skill training-cum-production centres, creating employment as well as providing requisite skilled manpower to industries.
Each of these centres will require about 8 to 10 acres and will cost around `60 crore apart from the land cost. Initially, 50 per cent of the money is to be provided by the Union Ministry of labour and the rest half by the State Government.
To work on “Hub and Spoke Model”, the centers will have 8 to 10 satellite centres that will be attached to the main centre. These centers are visualised to operate as skill training-cum-production centres, creating employment as well as providing requisite skilled manpower to industry as per the requirement.
