Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday said that people-friendly policies and programmes of the State Government could be realised in true spirit, as now with the induction of NDA Government at the Centre, it could be much easier for Punjab to have Union Government’s fulsome support and cooperation in all respects. Badal, referring to his recent New Delhi visit during which he had raised the State issues pertaining to agriculture diversification, power generation, industrial and economic growth besides prestigious programme of river cleaning and many other issues with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Union Ministers, said that he had high hopes that all the issues would be resolved soon and Punjab would regain its glory as front runner State in the country. On Government’s stand over the drug menace in the State, Badal said that the State Government had already initiated a war against drug smuggling with a firm commitment to make Punjab a drug free State. He also mentioned that he had also took up this issue with Modi and urged him to seal the international border to check the inflow of drugs into the State from across border activities. Badal said that anybody could judge the SAD-BJP Government’s commitment easily just by considering the quantum of drugs seized and number of drug peddlers arrested by the State police during recently past.
