Punjab to Overhaul Focal Points to Boost Industrial Investments

To create a more conducive environment for industrial investment, Punjab Government has decided to expedite the overhaul of focal points across the State. The decision came during a crucial meeting held on Friday evening, where the state’s Industry, Commerce, and Investment Promotion Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond emphasized the need to ensure that no industrialist faces any difficulty while seeking approvals or setting up new ventures.

The meeting, which took place at Udyog Bhawan and lasted nearly three hours, brought together senior officials from various departments linked to Invest Punjab. During the session, Minister Sond stressed that industrial areas and focal points must be equipped with all necessary amenities and facilities at the earliest. He highlighted that numerous investors have expressed interest in establishing industries in Punjab, but are encountering delays in the approval process, especially related to land acquisition and departmental clearances.

Sond instructed that all relevant departments — Industries, Invest Punjab, Rural Development, Tourism, and others — must work in tandem to streamline the approval process. From land acquisition to online permissions, he urged for smooth and hassle-free procedures. “Any issues arising at any level should be promptly reported to me, and I will ensure swift resolution with the support of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann,” he asserted.

Minister Sond also touched upon the untapped potential for tourism in regions near Chandigarh, suggesting that these scenic areas could be developed to further boost the state's economic prospects. He directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive plan for the development of these regions, ensuring that tourism could also contribute to Punjab’s growth.

The key objective of the meeting was to ensure that industrialists face no hindrances when setting up industries in Punjab. Sond noted that new investments are essential for creating jobs and driving economic growth. He emphasized that strict action would be taken against any official or employee deliberately obstructing investment processes, underlining the state government's commitment to maintaining a transparent and efficient investment ecosystem.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including Invest Punjab chairman Dalbir Singh Dhillon, Additional Chief Secretary Tejveer Singh, CEO of Invest Punjab DPS Kharbanda, and others. Their collective efforts will play a pivotal role in realizing Punjab's industrial ambitions and fostering an environment conducive to growth.
