In a unique initiative for the welfare of the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) from Punjab, the State Government has decided to hold Sangat Darshans, especially for them to redress their grievances. The Sangat Darshans would be organised at Moga, Jalandhar and ludhiana on December 28, January 16 and 17 respectively.
“Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal would preside over these Sangat Darshans,” said the State NRI Affairs Minister Tota Singh.
He said that the NRIs belonging to Moga, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Bathinda, Mansa and Barnala districts were being invited for Moga Sangat Darshan, while those from Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Pathankot districts are invited for Jalandhar.
ludhiana Sangat Darshan would cover the districts of ludhiana, SBS Nagar, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, Patiala, Sri Fatehgarh Sahib and Sangrur. “To facilitate maximum number of NRIs to get resolved their issue, problems or complaints, the entire State has been divided into three parts,” he said.
Singh said: “An email id — nripunjab014@gmail.com — has been created to receive the complaints or problems of the NRIs well in advance by December 15 so that the required information or action could be taken and concerned officers should remain available on the occasion.” “I appeal to the participating NRIs to bring their passports, OCI, PIO, NRP cards as their identity proofs,” he added.
