Punjab Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal on Thursday presided over a meeting of the Screening Committee for Mega Projects to discuss the pending mega project issues and policy matters. The meeting was attended by Kamal Oswal, Industrial Advisor to the Chief Minister, Punjab and many industrialists who have applied for setting up mega projects in the State.
During the meeting, Kaushal explained that the Government of Punjab is committed to ensure that Industrial Policy of the Government is implemented in the best interest of the Industry in the State. Issues which include fixation of conversion charges for the Change of land Use from industrial to mixed land use for multiplexes, charging of electricity duty from textile industrial mega projects, clearances for expansion of some Mega projects were discussed in the meeting. The Screening Committee cleared number of projects. The Chief Secretary instructed the concerned departments to give top priority to pending issues of mega projects.
