The Punjab Government would soon come up with a new policy to develop model villages across the State.
Announcing this on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal said that he would soon convene a high level meeting with concerned ministers and senior officers next week for the same.
“The Government would chalk out a first of its kind ‘rural development policy’ to build up the villages as clean and green modern villages which would opt for developing their panchayats lands into focal points for agri-related business entrepreneurs,” he said.
To attract more entrepreneurs in Punjab, the state government will also setup ultramodern industrial estate in 300 acres at Dhanansu village in the vicinity of ludhiana.
This, in turn, will provide alternative business activities to the existing units running in the residential areas thereby reducing pollution in the city, said Sukhbir during a meeting to review the progress of the said focal point.
Sukhbir said that the exclusive industrial zone would script a new chapter in furtherance of business progress of industrial city of ludhiana as it is being setup on the vital Amritsar-Kolkata industrial corridor.
He informed that Dhanansu village would be developed as a model village having all basic amenities including a bye-pass for better access with the national highway, adding that a solar power plant would also be setup for uninterrupted power supply to the residents.
Sukhbir also directed the industry and PWD departments to initiate the process of widening and strengthening of existing connecting roads to the village.
Sukhbir also reviewed the progress of Rajpura focal point which is being setup at 200 acres near the NH-1 and on Amritsar-Kolkata industrial corridor rail link. “Punjab would develop more industrial focal points along with the national railway corridor to boost the investments in the State,” he said.
