Punjab Government has tightened the security for conducting Punjab State Teachers’ Entrance Training (TET) examination as more than 1.73 applicants are set to appear in the State level examination, scheduled to be held on December 13.

To guard a total of 333 examination centres, coordination with District Civil and Police administration has been established so that 1,73,975 students could appear in TET-I and TET-II.

To review the elaborate arrangements made by the Punjab government, a video conferencing with all Deputy Commissioners, Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and District Education Officers (DEOs) was held on Tuesday at committee room of Punjab Civil Secretariet-II, Chandigarh, said the state Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema.

The Minister said that all officers have been asked to ensure security and amicable atmosphere around the examination centres so that the students could appear in the test without any external pressure and fear.

He said that the State Government has resolved to conduct the test in transparent and objective manner. Out of the total 1,73,975 students, 39,595 students would appear in TET-I and 1,34,780 students appear in TET-II examination.

“The duration of each test is 2 hours and 30 minutes but the specially-abled students would be given 50 minutes extra,” said Cheema.

The minister said that to ensure the transparency and fare conduct in the examination, the students have been prohibited to carry pen and wrist watches with them. “Wall clocks would be installed in all the examination centres. Students could only carry roll no,” he said.

He said that a nodal office in each district has been established where the question papers and OMR sheets would be stored and further distributed to the examination centres.

“I have instructed the Deputy Commissioners to depute ADC or SDM rank officers to be in charge of concerned District Nodal Offices. Full proof security arrangements would be in place at all the examination centres with all the necessary apparatus in place including the deputing of the police officer with minimum SHO rank,” he said.
