Punjab teachers with low results to get in-service training

The Punjab Education Department would provide in-service training to its teachers who have shown less than 30 per cent result.

The decision was taken by the state Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema during a high level meeting with the departmental officials and Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) chairperson in order to uplift the standard of education in the state as well as rectifying the flaws so as to achieve better results in future.

In the extensive consultations during the meeting, a roadmap for training of the teachers was chalked out.

Cheema said that the evaluation and assessment meeting, held a day before, with the teachers showing poor results brought to the fore bitter and challenging scenario regarding the teaching profession.

“After thorough deliberations with the higher officials of the department, it was decided to prepare lists of the teachers showing less than 30 percent result in order to formulate in-service training programmes for them,” he said.

The Minister said that the training would be provided by the expert resource persons and emphasized that the training programme must be as per the level of the teachers.

“Feedback should be taken from the teachers before and after the training programme so as to gauge the practical outcome of the training,” he said.
