Punjab Government has ordered to stop all the mining operations on river beds during the monsoon season, till September 30. However, mining would continue on sites which are aways or out of the rivers.
“Orders have been issued to all Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to ensure that no mining operations are carried out on the river beds in the state during monsoon season from July 1 to September 30, 2018,” said the state Mining and Geology Minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria on Tuesday.
Ordering strict monitoring of the operation, he directed the officers to remove all machines from the river bed sites.
