Alerted by the Bhakra Beas Management Board’s (BBMB) flood warning, Punjab Government has swung into action and set up control room to monitor the day-to-day situation of heavy rains and potential floods in the State.
Punjab Irrigation Minister Janmeja Singh Sekhon said that the district-level flood control rooms were already working and the State Government was fully prepared to tackle any untoward situation arising out of heavy rain and potential floods in the State. “The Government has already released Rs10 lakh to each district particularly for flood relief activities. Apart from this, Rs10 lakh additional grant would also be released to the districts,” said Sekhon.
Further, he added that the flood works like strengthening of river embankments and bridges in the flood prone area of the State are underway.

In the written instructions issued to the Deputy Commissioners, they have been asked to report the loss to life and property due to heavy rains and potential floods on daily basis.
