Punjab Police takes gangster Bishnoi's voice sample after viral audio clip on Moosewala killing

Published on:

A day after an audio conversation allegedly between gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and another person, informing him about killing Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, went viral, the Punjab police refused to authenticate the same. Punjab police, a day before, had also taken Bishnoi’s voice samples to match with the viral audio conversation, but is yet to give an official word.

However, sources told The Pioneer that it was not Lawrence Bishnoi’s voice, and also the tone and tenor of the conversation is “not normal”. The audio clipping is being examined by the experts.

Notably, over a minute-long audio clipping went viral a day before in which an alleged shooter was informing Lawrence Bishnoi, who was lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail, about the killing of Sidhu Moosewala. “Giani gaddi chadhata...Moosewala maar-ta” the alleged shooter was heard saying in the audio clipping.

In the audio conversation, the alleged shooter was also heard congratulating Lawrence and informing regarding the success of the mission.

After this, Punjab police had brought Lawrence Bishnoi to Mohali’s Cyber Crime Cell to take his voice samples.

Bishnoi, who is the main conspirator behind the murder of globally-renowned Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala remained in the cyber cell for more than an hour.

The voice sample of the gangster had been taken so that it could be matched with the recording of phone calls made by him to the people in the past, including Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, the mastermind behind the Moosewala's killing.

The police also keep a record of samples of the voices of gangsters so that even if they change their disguise, they can be identified with their voice.

It has been learnt that Bishnoi allegedly operates his gang from inside the jail by speaking to his men on the phone, and that was why his voice samples were necessary to prove that he was involved in running extortion rackets as well as for killing Sidhu Moosewala.
