To bring transparency in judicial works being carried out by the department officials, Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Department has decided to implement online court management system (OCMS).
With this, the concerned panchayat and general public would be able to view the status of their cases online saving their time and energy, said the state Financial Commissioner (Rural Development and Panchayat) Anurag Verma.
He said that various cases regarding illegal encroachments of panchayti lands are being lodged by various officials like Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Development, and District Development and Panchayat Officers (DDPOs).
“It is also decided that whenever a final decision by any official is made pertaining to particular case, the same will immediately be uploaded on the internet. This will bring down the inconvenience caused to the Panchayats and on the other hand, the system will bring transparency in the working of the Department,” he said.
Verma said that the copy of court orders, passed by any officer, could be viewed at the website — www.edistrict.punjab.gov.in. The online system will automatically generate the list of next hearings and intimation of hearing dates will automatically be sent through SMS to the concerned parties, he added.
Verma said that approximately 40 officials of the level of ADC (D) and DDPOs are doing judicial works under Punjab Village Common land Regulation Act, 1961, and The Punjab Gram Panchayat (Common Purpose) land Eviction and Rent Recovery Act, 1976.
“At present, approximately 4,000 cases are under review at judicial courts, out of which, date of 50 percent cases stands updated in the system,” he said. He said that in the first week of March, this system will be formally started by the Minister of Rural Development and Panchayat Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa.
Verma said that working on non-judicial cases being dealt by the Department will also be made easier, transparent and their redressal will be done on fast track through this system. This system will save time of money of general public and will be a pleasant experience for them, he added.
