The Punjab Government on Friday issued instructions to reverse its earlier decision to evacuate the villages of Punjab situated within the area of 10 kilometres of the India-Pak border with immediate effect.
An official spokesman of the Government said that apprehending the retaliation after the recent surgical attacks, the State Government had ordered the evacuation of about 1,000 villages to safer places. Now the residents have been allowed to go to their respective houses, he added.
The State Government has assured the residents of the villages around India-Pak borders to provide complete security and safety to the villagers. Instructions to this effect have already been issued to the administration of the seven border districts for immediate compliance.
