Taking strong notice of nursing and dental colleges indulging in irregularities and deficiencies in the infrastructure, Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister Anil Joshi on Friday directed the department officers to form teams and conduct checks on all the colleges and supervise all the aspects.

Joshi also issued instructions to the teams to prepare a list of colleges indulging in irregularities and falling deficient on the prescribed standards. “This would ensure strict action against erring colleges,” he said.

“The departmental teams during the inspection of a few colleges, parents of some students brought to my notice that many dental and nursing colleges of the state are lacking in infrastructural facilities such as laboratories, practical training and required teaching staff,” pointed Joshi.

“Besides, requisite fees for affiliation of colleges, have also not been deposited with the university,” said Joshi.  Taking strong notice, the Minister said that the colleges with such deficiencies would be strictly proceeded against.

Warning the colleges not to violate the set norms, Joshi ordered them to provide practical training to the students in appropriate manner.
