Punjab Education department on Monday formally inaugurated the SMS services for Class X and XII students of the State. Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal kicked-off the service by extending best wishes to all 1.28 lakh Class XIIth students for their board examination.
Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister said that the idea of this SMS service is to provide career guidance and counselling to the students for the future prospective.
He said the department has prepared the database of 2.78 lakh students among this figure 1.50 lakh students belonged to 10th and 1.28 lakh students belonged to 12th standard. He said the mobile number of one of the family members of these students has been stored by the department for sending SMSs.
Cheema said through this portal information regarding course admissions and job placements will be given to the students. “The students now can get the information regarding career guidance and counselling through SMS service sitting at their homes,” he added.
