Launching a massive recruitment drive to fill 26,454 posts in various departments marking completion of 50 days in office, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday made it clear that recruitment to all these posts will be merit-based only. At the same time, the Chief Minister ruled out scope for recommendation or bribe for the jobs.

Couple of days after the State Cabinet on Monday approved recruitment to fill 26,454 posts, the State Government has issued an advertisement for vacancies in 25 departments, including agriculture, excise and taxation, finance, police, revenue, and water resources.

Announcing the decision in a video message shared on social media platforms, Mann said: “Today, I want to share good news with people of the state. An advertisement of 26,454 jobs has been published in newspapers...Jobs will be given on the basis of degrees. There will be no recommendation or bribe. Recruitment will be done in a transparent manner.”

Maintaining that the Aam Aadmi Party led State Government “took various big decisions in 50 days and implemented them too”, Mann said that more job opportunities in government and private sectors will be rolled out in the coming days.

The Chief Minister averred that the recruitment for 26,454 vacancies in 25 different departments would be accomplished in a corruption-free and impartial manner.

The State Government had already issued a detailed advertisement in the newspapers, mentioning number of vacancies, recruiting agency — Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC), Subordinate Services Selection Board (SSSB), third party, or Department — and links of departmental websites for recruitment details to facilitate the candidates, who wish to apply according to their educational qualifications.

Promising enormous job opportunities for the youth, Mann said that the State Government would soon come up with far more government and private jobs so as to provide livelihood to enable them to lead a life with dignity.

He also referred to several pro-people initiatives likely to be taken by his government which would be announced in the Annual General Budget 2022-23 during the budget session in the Vidhan Sabha.
