Inspector General of Punjab Police (IT) Gautam Cheema has been booked on charges of molestation and under Arms Act by Mohali police, on Tuesday. Cheema was booked on the complaint of Krispy Khaira, a resident of 70, Mohali.
Cheema, is charged with sections 452 (trespass, assault or wrongful restraint), 323 (causing hurt), 342 (wrongful confinement), 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation), 120B (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code and various sections of Arms Act, said police officials.
Krispy Khaira, had levelled allegations of molestation against Gautam Cheema and another person (Ajay Chaudhary), to the local police.
A complaint by Krispy Khera was lodged against Cheema and Ajay Chowdhary to the Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police for allegedly molesting her at her residence on March 20 this year. However, alleging no action on her complaint, she also attempted to commit suicide by consuming sleeping pills at her residence on August 24.
The complainant is the wife of coloniser Davinder Singh Gill, who has been facing cases of cheating, fraud and rape and is under arrest these days. The Panchkula police arrested him a few days ago. The Mohali police brought him here on production warrant for interrogation recently.
Earlier this Sunday, Cheema was also booked on charges of Kidnapping at Phase 1 police station, for allegedly kidnapping one person, Sumedh Gulati, who was a proclaimed Offender (PO) and was a business partner of Devender Singh Gill.
Krispy alleged to police that Cheema came to Max hospital on the night of August 26 and also took Gulati with him and slapped him in front of her and told them to withdraw their complaint.
Noteworthy here is that Cheema had a dispute with Devender Gill who was his friend over a property issues and Gilli’s family have alleged that a rape case has been registered allegedly on the behest of Cheema in Panchkula this month. Gill was also booked earlier by the Mohali police for allegedly cheating many people by floating a hosusing society near landran. When tried to contact, he did not attend the call.
