Punjab Health Department has roped in service providers for the maintenance of all equipment in Government hospitals.

The Department of Health and Family Welfare has hired a service provider for maintenance of all the equipment, including X-ray, ECG, ultrasound and other machinery, in all the government hospitals across the State.

“X-ray, ECG, ultrasound and other state-of-the-art machinery, provided by the government, in all of its hospitals including the District Hospitals, Sub-divisional Hospitals, Community Health Centres (CHC’s) and Primary Health Centers (PHC’s) would be maintained by these service providers,” said the state Principal Secretary (Health) Vini Mahajan.

She said that the service provider company — M/s Kirloskar Technologies Private limited — with consortium partner Biostar Healthcare Private limited has already started its services with regard to maintenance and repair of equipment in government hospitals from October 1 after accomplishing the exercise of mapping and coding of all the equipment in each of the government health institution in the State.

Punjab Health Systems Corporation, which is the nodal agency for procuring and providing equipment in hospitals, have entered an agreement with the said company to ensure optimum utilization of the costly equipment provided in the government hospitals and to cut out the possibility of equipment lying non-functional for longer periods due to some or the other snag, she said.

Mahajan said that all Civil Surgeons have been directed to personally supervise the compliance of prompt action by the service provider in case of breakdown or malfunction of any equipment.

“They have further been directed to convey the SMOs and the heads of various health institutions under their jurisdiction to immediately respond in case of breakdown of any equipment in their respective hospitals and register a complaint with the helpline of the service provider at 18001230104,” she added.
