Punjab and Haryana High Court has sought a reply from Haryana government for denying government jobs to women Kabbadi players, who had participated in Kabaddi World Cup organized by Punjab government.
Putting Punjab on notice too on the petition filed by Suman lata and Sonia, the High Court has sought its reply on the sanctity of the Kabaddi tournaments.
The women players have been demanding job on the basis of Kabaddi World Cup. In their petition, Suman lata and Sonia of Nada
village in Hisar district have sought directions to the State of Haryana for giving them appointment on group-C posts as per the state government’s policy.
Suman lata had participated in the Kabaddi World Cup organized by Punjab government in 2011 and 2013.
Sonia, on the other hand, had participated in the event in 2012. The petitioners have claimed that the event was sanctioned by the International Kabaddi Federation and
Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India but Haryana government was not considering their request for the government job as per the sports policy of the State.
Seeking replies from both the states, the High Court has adjourned the case for July 27 for further hearing.
