Punjab Govt School Students Shine in NEET: 474 Qualify, Setting New Milestone

Government school students in Punjab have once again raised the bar by delivering an outstanding performance in the prestigious National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2024, with 474 students qualifying from across the State.

Congratulating the successful candidates, Punjab’s School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Sunday extended his best wishes for their future in the medical field, saying, “This is not just a moment of pride for our government schools but a testimony to the hard work, perseverance, and potential of our students.”

The Education Minister highlighted that this achievement follows another stellar performance earlier this year, when 265 government school students cleared JEE (Mains) and 44 qualified JEE (Advanced) — prestigious engineering entrance exams. “Such results reflect our unflinching commitment to quality education. Our students are no less than those in private institutions, and these numbers prove just that,” said Bains.

Bains credited this transformation to the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, whose administration has prioritized investment in school infrastructure, teacher training, mentorship programs, and academic support systems tailored to competitive exams. “We are building an environment where every student, regardless of background, has access to top-notch educational opportunities,” he added.

The Education Minister reiterated the state’s resolve to continue nurturing bright minds, especially in rural and underprivileged areas, through reforms that focus on holistic development. He noted that regular workshops, mock tests, and mentorship from experts have played a vital role in boosting confidence and performance among government school students.

“The road to becoming doctors and engineers starts with opportunities — and we’re determined to provide them. This is just the beginning. We aim to double these numbers next year,” Bains affirmed.
