In a bid to impart training to the youth the Punjab Government and the Tata group have joined hands and decided to set up a network of skill development centres in joint venture.

The decision was taken by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash singh Badal in a meeting with senior vice president & business excellence HN Srinivas of the Tata Group here.

Badal asked the State technical education to work out modalities to initially open such centre in Punjab on pilot basis which could be later replicated in other parts of the state. He shared his vision for the up-gradation of skill development amongst the youth to enable them to be gainfully employed besides ensuring them huge job opportunities to compete with their counterparts globally. Badal hoped after the successful implementation this model to be jointly launched by the Government and Tata group, would result in training nearly 4000-5000 youth annually in different trades after which either they could be successfully self-employed or absorbed in local  industry.
