The Punjab Government on Tuesday issued chargesheet to 16 health officials, including three doctors, after they were found absent from duty during a surprise check recently.
The orders were issued by the state health and family welfare minister Surjit Kumar Jayani after he conducted a surprise check at a Primary Health Centre at Shutrana in Patiala district.
Health Minister reached the Primary Health Centre Shutrana at 8.20 am but found that only two sweepers were present on duty and no doctor or other staff came till 9.15 am, said an official spokesperson of the department.
He said that the Minister observed that patients were coming in large number even before the staff and doctors. Taking a serious note, the Health Minister has instructed officials to charge-sheet the absent doctors and other staff.
