To tackle the lumpy skin disease effectively, Punjab Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar on Thursday ordered to depute veterinary officers, posted at the head office, in most-affected districts with immediate effect.
The Cabinet Minister said that in view of spread of disease and lack of staff, the Veterinary Officers posted at head office have been deputed in five districts of the State on temporary basis.
As per orders, veterinary officer Dr Preeti Singh will see the work at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district, Dr Karan Goyal at Fazilka, Dr Harinder Singh at Barnala, Dr Anil Sethi at Bathinda, and Veterinary Officer Dr Parampal Singh will look after the work at Sri Muktsar Sahib.
“They will monitor every situation in their concerned districts up till August 31, and make all possible efforts to prevent the disease,” said the Minister, adding that these officers have been instructed to join their respective districts immediately.
The Minister also issued written instructions to the District Deputy Directors asking them to intensify field visits including all veterinary institutions under their jurisdiction.
The officials have also been asked to ensure that a written report, pertaining to the number of villages, houses, and affected animals covered during the visits, be sent to the head office by 3 pm every day, said the Minister, adding that the Deputy Directors will spend half of the time of their duty in field.
