Taking strong notice of the reports regarding carving road illegally out of forest land in Hoshiarpur for mining purposes, Punjab Forest and Wildlife Preservation Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot on Sunday sought a comprehensive report from the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Kuldeep Kumar within three days.
The Minister said that it is very unfortunate that a road stretching 15 kilometers from Himachal Pradesh to Punjab by “illegally” cutting off trees belonging to forest department in Garhshankar sector is being contructed without prior permission. Any person found guilty in the probe report would not be spared at any cost, he said categorically.
Dharmsot said that the illegal encroachments on the forest department land would not be tolerated. “The drive is already underway to free the lands belonging to the department from illegal encroachments,” he said.
He revealed that the every inch of forest department land would be possessed back with the assistance of the Revenue Department and saplings of various types would be planted on them.
The Minister further elaborated that the Government is committed to lift all illegal encroachments of Government land by every mafia and such incidents would be strictly dealt with.
